Italian 1950s Charm Meets Modern Energy: Hotel Giò in Solna Joins Strawberry

During autumn 2026, Strawberry will take over the operations of the award-winning design hotel, Hotel Giò in Solna. Inspired by 1950s Italian architecture and featuring 179 unique rooms, the hotel has been a celebrated meeting place for both international travelers and Solna locals since its opening.

Now, Strawberry’s popular hotel chain, Home Hotel, is taking over the baton to operate and further develop the hotel to the next level.

A Smooth Handover for Continued Development

The seller of the hotel operations is YMCA Central (KFUM Central), an association that provides activities for approximately 3,000 young people within sports, music, and camp operations. YMCA Central views the transaction and the hotel’s future under the Strawberry flag very positively.

Fabege, which owns and manages the property long-term, views the new lease agreement and change of operator as a strategic and high-energy boost for the entire district around Haga Norra.

Facts about Hotel Giò:

  • Location: Solna, right by Haga Norra with immediate proximity to Hagaparken, Mall of Scandinavia, and the city center.
  • Capacity: 179 thoughtfully designed hotel rooms, including 35 spacious studio apartments with private kitchenettes tailored for longer stays.
  • Food & Meetings: The Italian restaurant Mama Giò with 160 seats, as well as a large summer terrace complete with a bocce court. The flexible "Living Room" serves as an open space for events, remote work, and relaxation. As part of Home Hotel, breakfast, afternoon fika, and dinner are now also always included in the room rate for all overnight guests.
